Plasma cortisol, urinary 17-hydroxycorticoids, and urinary vanilyl mandelic acid after acute myocardial infarction.

چکیده
Serial estimations ofplasma cortisol were made on 24 patients with acute myocardial infarction. Raised levels were found in 23 patients. The maximal level was observed within 12 hours of infarction in 78 per cent and between I2 and 24 hours in 22 per cent ofpatients. A positive correlation was found between the maximal cortisol level and the maximal levels of serum aspartate aminotransferase and a-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase. There was no significant difference between the maximal level in iS5 patients with an uncomplicated course and 5 patients who developed primary ventricular fibrillation. The maximal level

Patterns of endocrine reactivity in patients with recent myocardial infarction. Clinical and biochemical correlations: trial of endocrine therapy.
The following endocrine function parameters were studied serially in a group of 10 patients with recent myocardial infarction: blood and urinary levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine, urinary excretion of vanillyl-mandelic acid; protein-bound iodine, Hamolsky test (Hamolsky, Stein, and Freedberg, 1957); blood insulin; 24-hour urinary excretion of 17-hydroxycorticoids, sodium, and potassium. ...
متن کاملSerum cortisol, plasma free fatty acids, and urinary cathecholamines as indicators of complications in acute myocardial infarction.
Levels of serum cortisol, plasma free fatty acids (FFA), and uiinary catecholamines were collected in 31 patients with acute myocardial infarction on the day of admission to the coronary care unit (samples obtained from 15 patients with diseases other than myocardial infarction were considered as controls). These values were correlated with the presence or subsequent development of left ventric...
متن کاملThe plasma cortisol response to ACTH in "idiopathic hirsutism.
The biochemical abnormalities in patients with "idiopathic hirsutism" are imperfectly understood. The fractionation and measurement of urinary 17ketosteroids in these patients have been studied in several laboratories. It appears that this disorder is associated with increased production of an adrenal androgen which is reflected by increased excretion of urinary C1902 17-ketosteroids, in partic...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Acute Myocardial Infarction Associated with Arsenic Poisoning
Background: Arsenic toxicity as a result of consumption of hair removal agent has been rarely seen in last few years in comparison with the past. Case Presentation: In this case report, we presented a middle age woman referred to medical toxicology department due to epigastric pain and diarrhea following ingestion of hair removal agent. Urinary test for arsenic was positive. ECG changes and ele...
متن کاملElevation of two molecular forms of adrenomedullin in plasma and urine in patients with acute myocardial infarction treated with early coronary angioplasty.
Adrenomedullin (AM) has vasodilatory, diuretic and natriuretic actions. Two molecular forms of AM circulate in human plasma: an active, mature form of AM (AM-m) and an intermediate, inactive, glycine-extended form of AM (AM-Gly). In the present study we investigated the pathophysiological significance of the two molecular forms of AM in plasma and urine in patients with acute myocardial infarct...
